Cheap Eats: Disc Taiwan Wheel Cake in Melbourne Central

Oreo Custard Wheel Cake

If you’re unfamiliar with Wheel Cakes, they’re a signature street food in Taiwan. They also go by the name of Imagawayki and are popular in Japan too. Basically, they’re stuffed pancakes that you can hold in your hand and enjoy on the go.

I had never seen these in Melbourne before so am very excited that there’s now a shop in Melbourne Central (next to the train station). The staff prepare them after you order so you can enjoy them hot and fresh.

I got the 3 for $10 deal and decided on Oreo Custard, Nutella Custard and Apple Custard. The fillings were all so smooth and creamy - absolutely delish. If I had to pick a favourite, it was probably the apple one, however I do want to go back to try the traditional red bean flavour.

Definitely recommend checking them out for a quick sweet snack next time you’re at Melbourne Central.

Find them at Lower Ground Floor, Shop 15/211 La Trobe St, Melbourne VIC
